Founding therapists

Our founding therapists

They are not the company's founders, but the first therapists who believed in Artnconnect. Their commitment brought the project to life and they remain its pillars.

Savannah Dasilva

Savannah Dasilva

Psychotherapist (RP Qualifying), EXAT, BFA

Toronto, ON

Why I work with artists & creatives
As an artist and expressive arts therapist, I love working with artists because I genuinely appreciate the way artists see and experience the world. Creativity can be both deeply fulfilling and incredibly vulnerable, and I enjoy creating a space where artists can explore the parts of themselves that may be harder to express elsewhere.

A queer, neurodivergent psychotherapist based in Toronto, Savannah supports children, teens and adults who feel overwhelmed, burnt out or misunderstood. Her approach blends Expressive Arts Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), body-based and mindfulness practices.

Antoine Lemay

Antoine Lemay

Registered Psychotherapist (RP), DESP

Ottawa, ON

Why I work with artists & creatives
As someone who appreciates the courage it takes to show people their creativeness, I find working with artists very meaningful. Artists frequently pour their emotions, experiences and perspectives into their work, which can make the challenges they face feel especially personal. It's rewarding to support people who bring beauty, meaning and new ideas to this world.

A bilingual Registered Psychotherapist based in Ottawa, Antoine supports people navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, addictions or difficulty managing emotions. His approach is compassionate, collaborative and down to earth: he believes therapy works best when you feel truly heard, understood and supported.

Olivia Gilmer-Chekosky

Olivia Gilmer-Chekosky

Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW)

Ottawa, ON

Why I work with artists & creatives
Having been involved in creative disciplines myself from a young age (visual, music, dance), the art world holds a special place in my heart. I have experienced first-hand how artistic creativity can be an incredible tool for self-expression, healing, and political resistance while also understanding the complex challenges that come with being an artist. In my practice and my personal artistic life, I use a lot of somatic/body-based tools to strengthen the mind-body connection and would look forward to supporting others to do the same.

A bilingual Registered Social Worker based in Ottawa, Olivia supports youth (14+) and young adults in French and English using a trauma-informed, client-centred approach. She is trained in EMDR, yoga, many somatic approaches and various talk therapies, with over 10 years of experience working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, nervous system dysregulation and trauma. She believes in a holistic approach to health, seeing each individual as a whole being capable of healing when given the tools, safety and time.

Steph Paolucci

Steph Paolucci

Registered Psychotherapist (MA, RP), Yoga Teacher (RYT)

Pickering / Durham / GTA, ON

Why I work with artists & creatives
I love working with artists because I've seen firsthand how creativity and movement can support healing and personal growth. The creative process often includes some level of openness, self-awareness, and vulnerability. This can lend itself so naturally to therapy work. I also bring my own lived experience as an artist: eight years in intensive theatre school, including a BA in devised theatre, along with training in expressive arts.

Her approach is holistic, compassionate, and grounded in the connection between mind and body. She integrates evidence-based talk therapy approaches with mindfulness, nervous system regulation, movement, and somatic practices to help you better understand yourself and create meaningful change. She specializes in anxiety, trauma, life transitions, identity, stress, and emotional overwhelm, with particular interest in supporting caregivers, mothers, highly sensitive people, and artists.

Dan Leshman

Dan Leshman

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MA

GTA, ON

Why I work with artists & creatives
I spent many years working professionally in theatre as an actor, director, creator, and drama educator before and alongside becoming a psychotherapist. Creativity has therefore always been more than an interest for me: it has been a central part of how I understand people, relationships, identity, and emotional expression. I especially enjoy working with artists and creatives because I understand both the joy and the vulnerability that can come with creative work: being seen, taking risks, facing rejection and questioning your worth.

A psychotherapist, psychodramatist, and lifelong creative, Dan spent many years working professionally as an actor, director, and drama educator before becoming a therapist. He brings that same curiosity, openness, and creativity into therapy. His style is warm, relational, down-to-earth, and often playful: he adapts the work to the person rather than expecting the person to adapt to therapy.
